Fees Summary 2009

How much will it cost?

Student fees are set on an annual basis by the Australian College of Theology. The actual cost involved in providing tuition for our students is not covered fully by the set fee. We give thanks to God for the generous supporters and donors who contribute significantly towards the total cost of running the college and for each of them we are very grateful.

For 2009 the fees will be:

Each unit of study is the equivalent of 4 credit points and carries a load of 0.125.

For the three year BTh and MDiv the total course is 96 credit points or 24 units of study.

The GradDipDiv is 32 credit points or 8 units of study.

Payment of fees – Domestic Students

Fees can be paid in the following ways:

  1. In full at the beginning of semester – payments can be made by cash, cheque or credit card at the college office or online using your cheque/savings account if your bank is linked with an established internet banking facility.

  2. FEE-Help – Through FEE-Help students can receive a government loan to fund their fees (up to a maximum lifetime amount of $80,000) which is repaid to the government at a percentage of the amount once their taxable income exceeds $39,825 (2007/08 limit). FEE-Help students must have indicated their intention to take FEE-Help to the college by the end of the second week of semester. No changes can be made to FEE-Help after the 31st March or 31st August unless there are extenuating circumstances. See FEE-Help re-crediting policy http://www.act.org.au/i_policies.htm.

  3. Part cash payment and part FEE-Help funded.

  4. A contract of negotiated regular payments can be made in exceptional circumstances. Students must enter into a written agreement with the Business Manager before the end of the second week of semester.

The variation of enrolment fee

This fee will be collected by the college if a variation to enrolment is made after the last day of the second week of semester.
The fee for 2009 is:

(a) Add/substitute unit (enrol late) after Administrative Date $100/unit
(b) Withdraw from unit after Administrative Date

and before Census Date i.e. 31st March or 31st August $300/unit.

This fee, along with other miscellaneous fees, will be reviewed annually and fees for the coming year published by the ACTh office in mid-August.

Payment of fees - Overseas Students

Students are required to pay their first year of tuition fees up front in full (unless other arrangements have been agreed to prior to enrolment).

Refund policy

The policy for variation of enrolment fee applies equally to overseas students.

Concessions for spouses

The spouse of a full-time Trinity student is able to audit (attend classes but not required to submit assessment items) any or all of the following nine units free of charge over the three years of their partner’s enrolment:

  • Intro to Old Testament OT301 and OT032

  • Intro to New Testament NT301 and NT302

  • Intro to Theology ITT31

  • Trinity overview of Biblical Theology BTT

  • Church History Overview CH301 and CH302

  • Foundations for Evangelism EM324

The spouse of a full-time student may study up to four of the above units for credit as at a reduced rate of 50% of the set fee. Study of any other units whether for audit or credit will attract the normal fee. FEE-Help may also be available for spouses for units studied for credit. FEE-Help repayment is based on the individual’s income - not on the combined household income.

Austudy and AbStudy

These are available for eligible student who are studying three or more units in the BTh or GradDip or MDiv. More information will be available from the College Registrar.

Tuition Assurance and ACPET

Trinity Theological College is a member of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training and carries Australian Student Tuition Assurance (ASTAS). The Australian College of Theology provides access to Overseas Student Assurance. Further details are available at the ACPET website.
