Information Statement on Privacy
This information statement summarises how Trinity Theological College (the College) collects, holds, uses, discloses and protects information which it holds about people, including personal information. In providing us with information, you agree with the approach the College takes, set out below.
Collecting, holding, using and disclosing personal information
The College collects information from students, staff and other community members for a range of purposes. This includes information from prospective students to assess applications for study at the College, and information relating to students’ ongoing study at the College. It also includes contact information which people have given to us so we can provide them with information about the College, and credit card and other financial details which people have given us to facilitate donations and payments to the College. Information collected by the College includes some sensitive information, and this is only collected with the consent of those who provide it.
The College collects, holds, uses and discloses information for purposes connected with the College’s business, including:
- Giving students and staff access to pertinent information necessary for the proper functioning of the College or the progress of our students; and
- Disclosing information to Affiliates and third parties as required, including the Australian University of Theology and other regulatory bodies.
We will never disclose your contact information that is stored on our database to a third party without your explicit consent.
Protecting personal information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. Safety measures in place include the following:
- Your personal information is predominantly stored in a cloud-based database, which requires a log in, password, and multi-factor authentication to gain access;
- Access to the database is only available to those from the College who require such access;
- All staff are bound by confidentiality regarding College information and personal information that has been provided to us;
- Most credit card payments are made via online platforms using a secure provider, either Stripe or Paypal. The College occasionally receives credit card details directly, with the consent of the person providing those details.
It is important to note that no method of transmission over the Internet, and no method of storing information can be guaranteed as perfectly secure and incapable of compromise. This means that while we will make reasonable efforts to protect personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of personal information transmitted to us and stored by us.
Accessing and Changing your information
If you want to know what information the College holds about you, or to correct information the College holds about you, you can contact Reception who will direct you to the appropriate part of the College.
You may be sent communications from us, where you have provided your contact details. Some of this may be through websites designed for mass communication. You can unsubscribe or stop these communications at any time. Most of our emails will have an ‘Opt out’ link, which will stop all email communication. If this is not the case, please contact Reception who will be able to direct you to the appropriate part of the College.
