More than a degree: The lasting impact of Trinity on Tenielle’s life
Tenielle’s story is one of transformation. Whilst Tenielle’s parents helped to plant the seed of faith, it wasn’t until her mid-twenties when she gave her life to Christ. This newfound faith sparked a deep hunger to know God and his Word more deeply, a desire that soon led her to Trinity.
Initially, Tenielle planned to pursue a counselling course, but a visit to Trinity changed everything. Conversations with the team and a glimpse of what it would be like to study at the College revealed an opportunity to build a strong theological foundation. Her brother and many mentors who had shaped her faith were Trinity graduates, so she had seen firsthand the growth in their understanding of Scripture and their gospel-shaped lives.
The impact of Trinity
Tenielle’s time at Trinity was transformative in every sense. The college’s robust, gospel-centred teaching shaped her understanding of Scripture and deepened her love for God.
“I grew in my understanding of God’s Word and his work through Christ, which shaped my heart and mind. The growth didn’t just happen in lectures—it happened in pastoral care groups, on mission, in chapel, and even in the lunchroom.
“Trinity integrated learning with community, allowing growth to flourish both inside and outside the classroom. Some of my dearest friends are people I met at Trinity. The relationships, the shared experiences, and the way we encouraged each other in the gospel were such a significant part of my journey.”
Through her studies, Tenielle gained not only knowledge but also tools to integrate her faith into every part of life. Trinity’s emphasis on the “head, heart, and hands” approach equipped her to grow in her understanding of God’s Word, to experience his grace more deeply, and to live out her faith in everyday relationships and ministry contexts.
The impact of Tenielle’s studies at Trinity has been profound and lasting. Her theological training prepared her for ministry in all aspects of life—as a wife, mother, and friend. It also shaped her formal ministry, particularly in worship music. As a singer-songwriter, Tenielle Neda writes biblically rich worship and devotional music. Her time at Trinity helped her think critically about her lyrics, ensuring they faithfully convey the truths of Scripture. You can find out more about Tenielle’s music here.
In addition, Trinity equipped her to confidently share the gospel and disciple others. Whether leading Bible studies, meeting one-on-one with women, or teaching her children about God’s Word, Tenielle draws on the foundation built during her time at Trinity.
Why Trinity?
When asked why someone should study at Trinity, Tenielle says, “It will enrich your heart, mind, and faith in ways you could never predict. It’s not like a secular degree that might lose its relevance. Learning to read and study God’s Word is valuable for all of life, whether you’re in formal ministry or living as a Christian this side of the cross, awaiting the new creation.”
She often encourages people to consider starting with the Diploma in Theology. “I especially encourage high school students to do the one-year diploma before heading into other tertiary studies. It gives you a solid foundation—a lens through which to view the world and discern what’s true.”
As Tenielle looks to the future, she hopes to return to Trinity to complete her Bachelor in Theology. For her, studying at Trinity was not just an academic pursuit but a transformative experience that continues to shape her faith, ministry, and life. Whether she’s writing worship music, discipling others, or raising her children to know the Lord, Tenielle remains deeply grateful for the impact of her time at Trinity.
