Thom spent several years serving as a pastor and chaplain in Anglican churches and schools before commencing at Trinity, where he teaches doctrine and ethics. He loves introducing students to the deep riches of the Christian tradition, and he has a particular interest in the history and theology of the Reformation. His doctoral studies focused upon Protestant understandings of the doctrine of the Church in the 16th century, with a focus on the Italian Reformed theologian Girolamo Zanchi.
Thom is married to Mary Jane, and they have four children. They enjoy going bush-walking with Rosie the border collie, playing music together, and the odd backyard cricket match (in which the children are invariably victorious).
